Summary: Enjoy a luxurious 2-night stay at Richard’s Retreat, featuring a king-sized bed, rainfall shower, and breathtaking Sierra Madre mountain views. This elegant suite includes breakfast, lunch, and dinner for two (drinks not included, except a bottle of selected house wine during dinner). The suite is equipped with modern amenities such as air conditioning, a flat screen TV with Netflix, high-speed internet, and Bulgari toiletries. Valid through October 31st, 2026.

"Set in the top floor of Richard Burton’s former casita, Richard’s Retreat is the actor’s former sitting room. With its exposed rafters, elegantly carved king-size bed, Oriental rug and stunning antique armoire, one can easily imagine the charismatic Academy Award-winner choosing this as his getaway. In the bath, an antique dresser has been repurposed as a sink, and a crystal chandelier hangs from an arched brick ceiling. The shower, lined with handmade ceramic tiles and arched clerestory windows, features a rainfall-style showerhead, which is its own kind of reward."

Their Story

In 1963, after falling in love on the set of Cleopatra, Elizabeth Taylor and Richard Burton arrived in Puerto Vallarta for Burton's role in Night of the Iguana, directed by John Huston. Faced with rustic accommodations, Burton secured Huston’s villa, Casa Kimberly, for them. They fell in love with the town, and in 1964, Burton bought the villa as a birthday gift for Taylor. The couple spent years enjoying Puerto Vallarta with family and friends. Burton eventually bought a neighboring property and built a second house, connecting the two with a replica of Venice’s Bridge of Sighs, dubbed the “Lover’s Arch.” This second home served as Burton’s poker den and sometimes his “dog house” during marital spats, leading locals to nickname the bridge El Puente de Reconciliación—the “Bridge for Making Up.”

Here’s how it works:

• Online bidding closes on November 20, 2025, at 12:00 PM CST.

• The highest online bid becomes the starting bid for the live auction held at the Gala on November 22, 2025. Buy Your ticket for the Gala here.

• If you can’t attend the Gala in person, you can appoint a volunteer to act as your proxy bidder, who will bid on your behalf up to your chosen limit. We will be in touch between Nov 20-Nov 22 to make the arrangements with the highest online bidder when the auction closes.

• If your proxy wins, you’ll receive an invoice after the event, and shipping or pickup can be arranged (additional fees may apply if you’re outside Puerto Vallarta).
